Gingerbread House Experiment

Honey decided to get a Gingerbread House to put together with Bella this year. I just knew from the get-go that it was going to be an interesting memory in the making! And it was...

It started out good...Honey split apart the tree and put it together; no issues yet. Next she began constructing the house...needless to say, the so-called icing that dries in 15 minutes turned out to be icing that dries in 15 hours! She tried her best to hold it together with her hands at first. Then, we tried to put something underneath the roof pieces so that they wouldn't fall. Meanwhile, Bella is continually eating all of the gumdrops off the roof of the house; she LOVED them! I was obviously sitting back watching it all unfold and laughing pretty hard on the inside, ha! :) They were so cute! So, after the house was propped up, Honey decided to let Bella decorate the gingerbread men. There were little tiny balls of colored candy that were for the eyes...after sucking on one piece, Bella decided to use it for his first eye (it was pretty much discolored and extremely funny looking)...after that, we knew which one belonged to Bella! After we finished with those, we put it all together on a cookie sheet, which was topped with powdered sugar (aka, snow). About 5 minutes, if that, went by and the house began to fall apart. At this point, we really didn't care anymore. We got a few pictures of it together so that's all that mattered. Bella continued to eat the gumdrops and whatever else she could get her hands on. She had icing in her hair...all over her face...Honey was quite amused! We threw her in the tub and put the house away so that she wouldn't eat ALL of the candy. It was a very enjoyable evening...hopefully a yearly tradition that we can continue for years to come.
